Lerabe is a village on the banks of the Senegal River in northern Senegal. Here the first
CSP small power plant (150 kW output) with model character for other island solutions in sahel region will be implemented.
This solar power unit will provide energy for irrigation, domestic use, hospital, school, and especially for small production facilities.
Cooling, pasteurization, drying, operation of millet mills, power for tailoring, welding shops, and car repair shops, are just some examples of possible application scenarios.
Old, expensive in operation, and repair-prone polluting diesel pumps for irrigation will be replaced with modern, maintenance-free electric submersible pumps.
Energy is the basis and precondition for development.
Food security, and creation of clean energy powered production and service companies open up new perspectives for the rural population.
